The motor home was destroyed in the fire. There was a lot of concern while it was burning because of its proximity to the dry grass and trees.

The West Kelowna Fire Department put out the blaze but B.C. Forestry was on hand to make sure the fire did not spread into the nearby forest.

“Certainly in this case, due to the fuel conditions in the forest, we wanted to get that motor home extinguished right away to prevent a wildfire,” said Andy Low with B.C. Forestry. “The wildlife fence caught fire and the grass and ditch caught fire. It was moving towards standing timber on the side of the highway. But West Kelowna [Fire Department] was able to knock it down to prevent any further spread of wildfire.”
