Shannen Doherty thanks her mom for support through breast cancer battle

Actress Shannen Doherty paid tribute to her mom, Rosa, with a special thank you message as she helps the 45-year-old actress endure chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum wrote, “Sometimes there’s nothing like a mothers love to help get you thru. Thank you mom for always being there and being so strong for me. I love you. #mamarosa #cancersucks #fightlikeagirl.”

Doherty has been open with her battle with cancer in the hopes that it will offer comfort, hope and inspiration to others going through similar struggles.

Doherty announced her breast cancer diagnosis last year and recently shared an emotional series of photos shaving her head which featured her mother.

The actress has previously thanked her husband Kurt Iswarienko for helping her through her battle.

“Cancer is not pleasant but it can bring out the best in relationships or the worse,” she wrote on Instagram, captioning a smiling photo of the couple. “Thankfully, it has made our marriage stronger.”

Doherty had also told Entertainment Tonight, “I could not have gotten through this without my husband.”

“I told him, ‘You need to enjoy every single second you have with me because I’m going to be dead in five years,'” she explained. “He just burst out in tears. Thankfully, that phase was short.”

Doherty also called the unknown of the disease “the scariest part.”

“Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it’s the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love,” she shared.

Doherty has undergone three out of eight rounds of chemotherapy and had a single mastectomy back in May. She recently announced the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes.
