Despite the wet conditions, the 2016 harvest is well underway in Saskatchewan.

According to the latest crop report from Saskatchewan Agriculture, 35 per cent of the winter wheat, 25 per cent of fall rye, four per cent of peas and one per cent of lentils are combined.

Field access is an issue in some areas, with many regions receiving heavy downpours in the past week.

This has caused crop damage due to flooding and lodging and there are concerns equipment will get stuck in the wet fields.

Crop damage was also reported due to hail and diseases while lentils and peas have suffered through much of the growing season due to the excessive moisture.

Famers also continuing with haying operations, with 79 per cent of the hay crop baled or put into silage, and 10 per cent cut and ready for baling.

Hay quality is rated 59 per cent good, 36 per cent fair and five per cent poor.
