Anne Hathaway has taken to Instagram to post a photo of the jeans she had to alter to fit her “new” post-baby body after welcoming her son in March. And there’s a good reason why.

“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever),” the Oscar-winning actress wrote in the caption of the photo.

“There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs.”

The Intern star finished the empowering message with, “Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace xx #NoShame #LoveWhatYouHaveBeenGiven.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Not long after giving birth to son Jonathon, Hathaway told Ellen DeGeneres that she was happy in her post-baby body, despite Hollywood trainers offering her pointers mid-workout.

“I work out in West Hollywood, so you see, like, Thor’s trainer — you know, the people who have too many muscles to be in The Avengers — so I would normally walk in and feel so intimidated,” she says. “But [now] I walk in, I’m like, ‘Yeah I work out with 5 lb. weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body, I feel good right now.’”

The Brooklyn-born actress opened up about how one trainer even body-shamed her at the gym. “If somebody says, ‘I had a baby 13 years ago,’ and you say, ‘You look great.’ That’s what you do. That is the etiquette,” she told DeGeneres in May. “So I say to this guy, ‘I had a baby seven weeks ago.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, trying to lose the baby weight?'”

Hathaway said she “cried a little bit” after he left.

The new mother recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Disney film The Princess Diaries, taking to Instagram to share a GIF along with an excited message.

“It’s been 15 years (say it with me) SHUT UP!!!!! To all the fans who have loved Mia, Louie, Lily, Joe, Michael and, of course, Queen Clarisse, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

And Hathaway added a special message to the late director of the film, who passed away last month, writing: “And to Garry Marshall, thank you for making me a princess. I love you always my beloved friend and teacher, and I miss you every day xx.”
