Kirkland warns against attic inspection scam

Kirkland officials are warning residents to be aware of scammers offering to conduct free attic inspections.

Representatives with the company, who either call or go door-to-door, claim to be part of the Rénovert provincial program.

The fraudsters tell residents the city has requested they perform an inspection because there is a high rate of non-conforming attics in Kirkland.

The West Island has had its fair share of door-to-door scams.

Earlier this summer, at least two small West Island businesses were hit with a credit card scam that cost them tens of thousands of dollars.

There have also been several grandparent cons, including one that targeted senior citizens with the local Meals on Wheels.
