Manslaughter warrant issued for Toronto man after missing Markham woman presumed dead

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old Toronto man wanted for manslaughter after investigators say a missing Markham woman is now presumed dead.

The York Regional Police homicide squad took over the case last month after 36-year-old Ying Chun “Annie” Li went missing June 12.

On Wednesday they announced that the investigation has led police to believe Li is dead.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant on the charge of manslaughter has been issued for Jiarui “Jerry” Tang in connection with her disappearance.

Investigators believe Tang frequents Toronto’s Chinatown neighbourhood and is still in the Greater Toronto Area.

Police are urging Tang to seek legal counsel and turn himself in.

The public is asked not to approach Tang if they see him, but to call 911 immediately.
