Homicide squad now investigating ‘suspicious’ disappearance of Markham woman

Homicide detectives have taken over an investigation into the “suspicious” disappearance of a 36-year-old Markham woman last month and are seeking help from the public identifying a possible witness.

York Regional police said Ying Chun “Annie” Li was last seen by her family around 6 p.m. on June 12 in the Denison Street and Markham Road area.

Li has not been in contact with her family and investigators believe she may have been seen around 7 p.m. that evening in the Richmond Hill area.

Police said she is known to frequent the Yonge Street and Sheppard avenue area and Fairview Mall in Toronto.

Li’s family and police are growing increasingly concerned for her well-being and police said her disappearance is now considered “suspicious.”

Investigators are asking for help identifying a possible witness who may have information on Li’s disappearance, but provided no further information.

“We are asking this woman, or anyone who can identify her, to come forward,” police said in a release.

Li is described by police as a 36-year-old Asian woman, standing 5’2″, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
