WATCH ABOVE: Commuters insist a new safety fence at the Dorval terminal is causing more harm than good. As Global's Billy Shields reports, people are jumping over it to catch their buses and trains – Aug 2, 2016

Commuters are unhappy after the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport (AMT) installed a fence at the Dorval terminal in an effort to keep commuters from cutting across the loop and weaving between the buses.

The terminal, which is a gateway for various buses, as well as the Vaudreuil-Hudson train line, is a busy area.

The fence separates the train platforms from the bus stops and replaces a row of hedges that had to be cut down.

Those who use the terminal insist the new barrier makes it harder to get to the buses because hurrying commuters are jumping over the fence instead of going around it.

“I don’t see what purpose [the fence] serves,” said commuter Arvind Pradhan.

Residents insist the fence is an added hurdle to what was previously just a quick sprint across the way.

A spokesperson for the AMT told Global News the barrier aims at increasing safety and complaints should be directed to the agency’s customer service line.
