Arson possible cause of Saskatoon apartment fire

Arson investigators are looking into a fire that caused an estimated $400,000 worth of damage in Saskatoon on Saturday.

Just after 9 a.m. CT, numerous 911 calls reported flames coming from the rooftop at 419 20th St. W.

Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and flames showing from the roof area.

There were no one inside the building at the time.

Crews performed an aggressive interior attack, putting out the fire which was in a common hallway on the second floor of the building.

An apartment suite above a business and three other adjoining suites were damaged.

An investigator determined the blaze to be suspicious in nature.
