Police were called around 8:45 p.m. to assist the BC Ambulance Service.

“The woman was swimming prior to going into medical distress, advising that she was not feeling well and was having trouble breathing,” Cpl. Trevor Tribes with the Lumby RCMP said.

The woman was brought to shore, where a retired nurse performed CPR until BC Ambulance arrived.

Despite 30 more minutes of CPR administered by BC Ambulance paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

RCMP are not considering the death suspicious, and have handed the case to the BC Coroners Service.

The woman’s name is not being released.
