The Halifax Discovery Centre is hosting one last party at its Barrington Street location on Saturday before closing its doors.

There is free admission all day and something for everyone – whether it be making liquid nitrogen ice cream, checking out a large LEGO Mosiac Wall or getting up close and personal with some animals from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo.

“You know what, I think it’s a mixture of things. We try and change our exhibits, especially having something new every three to four months.”

“But it’s also our team members, our staff, they’re so enthusiastic, they love working with kids, they love working with all members of the public and sharing all the fun we have with science and technology,” staff member Ruth Munro said.

The Discovery Centre will reopen in its new location – at the Nova Scotia Power Building along the Halifax Waterfront – in early 2017.

“It’s bittersweet,” president and CEO Dov Bercovici said in a news release.

“We’ve had such an incredible run here at Barrington Street, and for such a long time, that it’s hard to imagine not being here. But, at the same time it’s exciting because our new facility, which will open soon, is going to be amazing!”
