HALIFAX – What are boogers made of? Why do people fart?
Parents, you know you love answering all of the ‘pleasant’ questions your inquisitive young children ask on a daily basis.
Well, if you’ve ever been just too grossed out to respond to the little ones, there’s help.
The Discovery Centre in Halifax opened its “Grossology” exhibit Jan. 18.
“It’s no secret that kids like to ask those impolite, somewhat inappropriate questions about their bodies and adults are often too embarrassed to answer,”
Exhibits Manager Jeff McCarron says. “So, it’s a good opportunity for them to come in and learn a little bit about the questions they ask about themselves sometimes.”
So just what exactly can you expect to learn about Grossology?
All the senses are tested at the Barrington Street centre and youngster can learn about everything from body odour to vomiting and runny noses.
There’s even a climbing wall for kids to scale. But it’s not rocks they’re climbing – it’s zits and warts.
The exhibit is completely hands – and noses – on.
The best part is, for parents, it’s one big science lesson in disguise.
If you and your kids want to learn more about the smells, sounds and other wonderful thing our bodies do, the Discovery Centre’s Grossology exhibit runs until May.
