The deadline for applications in a new low income transit pass pilot program has been extended to July 22.
The program began accepting applications on July 4. City officials say so far, they’ve received over 340 applications.
July 15 was the original deadline for people to apply, but Halifax Transit says they want to make sure that all residents are able to take advantage of the program and have agreed to extend the deadline by one week.

Applications can be found online or completed application forms can be dropped off in person at the following customer service centres:
• Acadia Centre, Lower Sackville
• Alderney Gate, Dartmouth
• Bayers Road Centre, Halifax
• Scotia Square, Halifax

The pilot program is open to residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality with an annual income of less than $33,000. The objective is to make monthly transit passes more affordable for low income residents.
There are 500 passes available under the pilot project.
