‘Loving’ trailer: Interracial love story has Oscar written all over it

A story from many decades ago still has resonance today, as evidenced by the recently released trailer for Loving.

Inspired by the documentary The Loving Story, Loving focuses on Richard and Mildred Loving (played by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), an interracial couple who married in June 1958. Shortly after their nuptials, they were arrested, thrown in jail, and exiled from Virginia.

For the next nine years, the couple fought for their marriage and the right to return home as a family. Try to hold back your tears watching this trailer as Edgerton and Negga throw themselves into their roles.

Oscar buzz is already heavy around this film, especially for the two leads. The movie is directed by Jeff Nichols (M.U.D., Midnight Special).

Loving opens in theatres on November 4, 2016.
