Lac La Biche RCMP reached out to the public for help Tuesday as they try to find two suspects in connection with a gun being fired at an officer’s vehicle the day before.
Mounties said around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, they were told several suspects, believed to be involved in a number of armed robberies, were driving towards Lac La Biche from Wandering River in a dark pickup truck.
Police said an officer spotted the truck as it headed east on Highway 55 just outside Lac La Biche.

They said a few minutes into the officer’s pursuit, someone in the truck fired a single gunshot at the Mountie’s vehicle which hit the windshield. The officer was not injured, however.
Mounties said another RCMP vehicle then followed the truck which later became “inoperable” about 20 kilometres northeast of Lac La Biche. Two of the four people inside were then arrested without incident. With the help of a K-9 unit, officers searched for the other two occupants of the truck but they were never found. Police said the gun was also never recovered.
While police did not have a make of the truck or an age or gender of the suspects at large, they asked the public to help provide any information on the incident if they have it. They also said members of the public should not approach the suspects who remain at large as they “could be armed and dangerous.”
Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident itself is asked to call Lac La Biche RCMP at 780.623.4380 or to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS) or online.
