A 56-year-old man is lucky to be alive after the small plane he was piloting crashed into a tree in Georgina north of Toronto Sunday night.
York Regional Police said the pilot was attempting to land at the Baldwin Airport around 8 p.m. when he encountered engine trouble and the plane ended up stuck 12 metres in a tree in a heavily forested area.

Authorities said it took nearly two hours for rescue crews to bring the man down.
The pilot managed to walk away from the crash unscathed but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
