Saskatoon inmate on the lam in nothing but underwear recaptured

An inmate who lost everything but his underwear on Saturday is now back behind bars.

At around 5:40 p.m. CT, police say he escaped from the Saskatoon Correctional Centre Urban Camp.

In the process of escaping, he lost his institutional clothing.

Saskatoon Police Service said a woman gave the nearly naked escapee clothes before calling the police to alert them of his description and whereabouts.

He was apprehended by officers and a canine member in the north end of the city after 33 minutes on the run.

The man, who suffered minor injuries making his escape, was taken to hospital by MD Ambulance and is in police custody.

He is expected to appear in front of a justice of the peace on Sunday.
