MONTREAL – A 20-year-old man is in hospital following an overnight stabbing in Montreal’s Ville-Marie Borough.
According to police, the man was stabbed at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Cartier Street, near Ste-Catherine Street East, after a conflict between several people degenerated.
Police located the victim, with stab wounds to the abdomen, several blocks away on de la Visitation and Ste-Rose streets.
He was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim is expected to meet with officers later in the day Sunday.
Investigators are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing and hope to interview witnesses and view surveillance camera footage.
Police are investigating a similar stabbing last Wednesday that sent a man in his 30s to hospital.
That case also involved a conflict between several people on the corner of Cartier Street and de Maisonneuve Boulevard. Police believe that incident may be drug-related.
It is too soon to say whether the two stabbings are linked.
