Motorcyclist killed in collision with deer northwest of Calgary

One man was killed in a motorcycle crash northwest of Calgary on Thursday.

It happened on Lochend Road about 10 kilometres north of Big Hill Springs Road at around 10 p.m.

According to EMS, two men were travelling on motorcycles, one behind the other, when one of them struck a deer.

RCMP said the first motorcyclist, a 67-year-old Calgary man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second motorcyclist, a 33-year-old Calgary man, was able to avoid the collision but lost control of his bike. He was rushed to the Foothills Medical Centre with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither speed or alcohol are thought to be factors.

RCMP said the road was dry and clear at the time of the collision.
