WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes picked up big slugging outfielder Willie Cabrera in a trade with the Joplin Blasters Thursday.
Cabrera, 29, has eight home runs and is second in the American Association with 43 RBI in 44 games with the Blasters this season. He also sports a .307 batting average.
As part of the trade the Blasters will get a player to be named later.

Cabrera was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round of the 2005 draft. He played four years at the double-A level and two years in triple-A with the Braves organization.
To make room for the new acquisition the Goldeyes placed left-handed pitcher Conor Spink on waivers. He cleared and is now a free agent.
Cabrera will make his first appearance with the Goldeyes when the club starts a four-game series in Sioux Falls against the Canaries on Thursday night.
