MONTREAL – The arson squad is investigating after two parked cars were set on fire in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough.

Police were called to Philippe Lalonde Street, just south of St-Ambroise Street at 3:10 a.m. Sunday after reports of two cars set ablaze.

The cars were parked on either side of Philippe-Lalonde Street.

After dousing the flames, firefighters discovered the presence of incendiary devices.

The tires and paint on both cars were damaged.

Police have no suspects and it is not known if there is a link between the two vehicles.

It is the latest in a string of recent fires targtetting parked cars across the city. Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant told Global News that at this point there is no reason to believe the fires are related.
