With the clock ticking on a potential Canada Post strike or lockout, City of Saskatoon officials are encouraging people to go online.
Canada Post mail and parcel delivery service could come to a halt Saturday as ongoing contract negotiations between the corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) representing 50,000 postal workers remain frosty.
“In the event there is a postal strike the city will continue to bill monthly for utilities and the information will be available through a number of avenues,” said Shelley Sutherland, the city’s corporate revenue director
“People can sign up for e-bill. It will also give them access to all of their utility account information.”

Besides utility bills, parking tickets and pet licenses can be paid online.
Other options include paying in person or dropping off a cheque in boxes at city hall.

The province is also preparing and implementing plans to make sure that cheque payments are available to clients who do not receive direct deposit.
Most monthly cheques were mailed on June 23 or earlier and should arrive prior to any postal disruption.
