Man killed in highway crash east of Calgary

One man was killed in a two-car crash east of Calgary on Monday.

It happened in the intersection of Highway 560 (Glenmore Trail) and Range Road 283, about 20 kilometers east of the city, at around 6 a.m.

RCMP said it appeared a northbound minivan was hit by a westbound pickup truck after failing to stop at a stop sign.

The man driving the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan, a woman in her 40s, was rushed to the Foothills Medical Centre in serious but stable condition.

The collision caused the temporary closure of Highway 560 at Range Road 283.
