Toronto music artist Drake is taking a page from fellow Canuck Justin Bieber‘s book: he’s officially cancelled all VIP meet-and-greets originally scheduled for his Summer Sixteen tour.
But unlike Bieber, Drake is offering full refunds to all who purchased the VIP packages.

The VIP tour experience packages were selling for $1,000, and included a photo opportunity. Drake’s management blamed “scheduling issues” for the cancellation.
Ticketmaster listings show that the VIP ticket bundles still guarantee a ticket in the first five rows, along with 6 God and Summer Sixteen merchandise. (In case you were wondering, there will be no cardboard cut-outs of Drake to pose with.)
Although Drake and his management haven’t stated that this move is due to security concerns, musicians are becoming increasingly wary of audience members and self-declared “fans.”
Aside from Bieber’s cancellation of meet-and-greets, which was due to the singer feeling “drained” and “unhappy,” former The Voice contestant and singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by an obsessed fan on June 10. Grimmie was a close friend of Selena Gomez, who famously used to date Bieber, so her death hit close to home for the Canadian singer, and it’s not a stretch to suggest the killing shook the entire music industry.
