TORONTO — Drake isn’t just topping the charts these days, he’s also dominating the streaming music market.

Billboard says the Toronto rapper’s latest album has become a favourite on services like Apple Music and Spotify, which has made it the most played album for four weeks running in the United States.

It began about a month ago when “Views,” which includes the current No. 1 single “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla, generated about 245.1 million streams in its debut week.

“Views” has since claimed the second, third and fourth spots on the list of best-ever weekly album stream totals.

The album racked up 166.2 million streams for its tracks during the most recent chart week – which runs until June 11, as per data compiled for Billboard by Nielsen Music.

“Views” also had 186.1 million streams in its third week of release, and 140.8 million during its second week.

The popularity of the album on streaming services like Apple Music – where it made its debut on April 29 – has played a significant role in the album’s chart-topping position.

In late 2014, the Billboard 200 album chart tweaked its rules to qualify 1,500 song streams from an album as equivalent to one album sale.

Using the new formula, streaming equivalents of Drake’s “Views” counted for 111,000 album sales towards its total for the latest week’s charts.
