The sudden death of Christina Grimmie has sent shockwaves through the entertainment and music communities, and many artists have expressed their condolences for the former The Voice contestant.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber is the latest to pay tribute to Grimmie — the 22-year-old dedicated a song to her at his concert in Winnipeg, breaking down in tears and lying on his back onstage.

Bieber can be heard saying “Grimmie, do you hear me?” into his mic as he sings the ballad Purpose.

Grimmie, also 22, died after being shot following a performance in Orlando last Friday, according to her publicist.

At a news conference late Friday, police officials said Grimmie was shot around 10:45 p.m. local time at The Plaza Live, where she had performed with the band Before You Exit earlier that night.

Police said the suspect shot Grimmie after her show, while merchandise was being sold and autographs signed. Officials also said that Grimmie’s brother tackled the shooter who then shot himself.

There is no official date set for Grimmie’s funeral. The Voice host Adam Levine has offered to pay for the expenses.
