Body recovered from Petitcodiac River in Riverview

A body has been recovered from the Petitcodiac River in Riverview, N.B.

Searchers went out on the water Wednesday afternoon after reports that a body had been seen floating in the water.

Riverview Fire Deputy Chief Robin True said they received several calls about the body in the water.

“Riverview Fire responded with Dieppe Fire and Moncton Fire, Ambulance New Brunswick and RCMP to this location and we were able to recover a body from the river,” said True.

The body was pulled ashore in West Riverview, behind the Byron Dobson Arena.

It’s unclear how long the body had been in the water, and there is no word on the gender, identity or age of the person.

The RCMP are on scene, and the investigation is continuing.
