Global Calgary Meteorologist Jordan Witzel is heading out in the community to experience some of the many careers that make up our dynamic city.
Through the #OurYYC Apprentice series, Witzel will try his hand at different jobs for one day to see just how challenging they can be.
Golf is a humbling game. It’s frustrating at best, but many of us continue to pull out big bucks in order to suffer through a terrible round that still, somehow, leaves us satisfied. There is so much to be said about the game of golf. This month, I had a chance to discover what it takes to create that amazing experience as a member of the maintenance crew at Banff Springs Golf Course.

It’s an active job and it’s rewarding. Constantly on the go, you’re able to finally step back at the end of the day and admire the beautiful landscape that you’ve helped thrive. Add the chance to see a variety of wildlife early in the morning and it’s a perfect fit for the outdoor enthusiast. You don’t have to be a golf nut to apply.
From creating a pristine feeling at the tee boxes – to keeping the fairway grass and greens in amazing health – the experience was demanding. Oh, and golf courses are extremely cold early in the morning.
