Editor’s note: The charges against Stewart Rhodes have since been withdrawn, Taber police confirmed Aug. 11, 2016. Police said the woman was also charged in the incident, but those charges had also been dropped as of July 29.

A 911 operator for the Taber police received a call around 1 a.m. Sunday but the caller was totally silent.

Taber police went to the area where the call came from and identified the house believed to be involved.

After knocking on the door several times, police forced their way in and found a woman inside.

Police said, after investigating, they discovered a man, known to the victim with probation conditions to have no contact with her or go to the home, had broken in.

Officers said the woman was able to get away from him for a little while and called 911 from a cellphone but was too afraid to speak.

He was remanded into custody and set to appear in court on June 14.

Wrentham is about 60 kilometres southeast of Lethbridge.
