EDMONTON — Five people, including two from Edmonton, have been charged after a woman was taken from her home and held against her will in Lloydminster Thursday.
RCMP say the incident started in a home where the group of five demanded money and other valuables from a man and a woman.
Officers say the man was assaulted but was able to escape. The woman was taken to a downtown Lloydminster hotel where she was assaulted.
Just after 4 p.m., RCMP found the woman in the hotel room. The man was located a short time later.
Three men and two women are now facing a lengthy list of charges including robbery, extortion, kidnapping, uttering threats and assault.
“The suspects and victims are known to each other and it is believed that this is an isolated incident,” said Constable Grant Kirzinger.
Christopher Hermkens, 24, from Edmonton, Gordon Howard, 24, from Lloydminster, Traci Love, 41, from Lloydminster, Herbert McCullough, 26, of Lone Rock and Jussara Junk, 22, from Edmonton are all facing a minimum of 16 charges, RCMP said Friday.
All five people will remain in custody until their next court appearance, which is scheduled for Monday.
