Woman reports violent sexual assault in Dartmouth, police issue warning

Halifax police are warning residents after a woman was reportedly violently sexually assaulted in Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Police allege a 27-year-old woman was in a wooded area in the 300 block of Main Street at about 3-4 p.m. Saturday, when a man approached her from behind, spun her around and violently sexually assaulted her.

The man was last seen walking toward Mount Edward Road. He was not known to the victim.

The suspect was described as a tall man of average build, with black hair, a clean-shaven face and a pierced ear. He was wearing a black and white hat, white T-shirt, black pants and white sneakers at the time of the alleged assault.
