Alberta traffic stop turns into drug bust

Two Calgary residents were arrested and charged after a traffic stop that turned into a drug investigation.

RCMP said drugs were found inside a vehicle after it was initially stopped for a minor traffic offence on the QEII near Innisfail.

Fifty-four grams of cocaine, 232 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount marijuana were seized.

Thirty-seven-year-old Erick Martinez and 31-year-old Ruth Mejia Solorzano are facing charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana.

Innisfail is 119 kilometres north of Calgary.
