Police in Halifax have taken a 28-year-old man into custody after a woman complained she was chased by someone who yelled sexual comments at her as she walked home.

They say the woman was heading to her home on Charles Street at about 4 a.m. when she noticed a man following her.

Police say the woman started to run, but the man pursued her and screamed sexually explicit comments at her.

She contacted police soon after getting into her house.

Police say they arrested a man in the area and held him in custody for trespassing and breaches of court orders.

Police are investigating.
