Emergency crews were called to the 200 block of Tuscany Glen Park N.W. at around 4:46 p.m.
Police said a seven-year-old girl was playing on the sidewalk in front of her house when she was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck backing out of her family’s driveway.

Her father was driving at the time. Police said neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the incident.
Paramedics rushed the girl to the Alberta Children’s Hospital, suffering from critical, life-threatening injuries including serious head trauma.
Neighbours say the father is self-employed and the family has four other children. They have set up a GoFundMe account to help support the family financially.
