KELOWNA — The South East Kelowna Irrigation District has issued a boil water notice for users on the surface water system.

The order is effective immediately and remains in effect until further notice.

The Boil Water Notice is required due to positive microbial results for tests taken May 23.

Subsequent tests taken May 24 were all negative for microbes and chlorine residuals are at the required range throughout the distribution system.

Interior Health has ordered the issuance of this advisory pending the results from additional microbial tests taken May 25, which will be available May 26.

SEKID says it expects the Boil Water Notice will be rescinded May 26.

During a boil water notice, tap water used for drinking, brushing teeth, or rinsing ready-to-eat-foods should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute.
