Several Calgary schools are pulling ahead of the class on a recent report card on elementary schools issued by the Fraser Institute of Alberta.
The Fraser Institute published its annual Alberta elementary school rankings Saturday, showing how schools have performed academically and which schools across the province have either improved or fallen behind.
Almost all of the top five elementary schools in this year’s report were from Calgary. The highest-ranking was Mount Pleasant School in Edmonton.
Clear Water Academy in southwest Calgary ranked second, tied with Edmonton’s Stratford School.
Master’s Academy also received top marks.
Three Calgary schools were tied for fifth place, including Webber Academy, Rundle college and St. Luke.
Of the 10 fastest-improving schools, six are in Edmonton.
The report card on Alberta’s elementary schools 2016 ranks 812 public, separate, Francophone, private and charter schools based on seven academic indicators derived from province-wide test results.
