While fire officials said Camp Warwa was not facing any imminent risk and camp staff decided to evacuate the site on their own, it was a sensible precaution to take and allowed fire crews better access to fighting the blaze.
According to fire officials, the blaze did result in some non-severe cases of smoke inhalation and one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
They also said the fire was less than a hectare in size and that while it did burn down some sheds, no other structures were at risk.
There is no word on what sparked the blaze.
Camp Warwa is located about an hour northwest of Edmonton.
