Six-year-old Braxton Lee was born to run. The Virginia native has more races under his belt than most adults.
But this time around, Lee’s mission is beyond getting to the finish line. He’s running for a police officer who was shot and killed in Gloucester County, Va.

“I know a bad man killed a police officer in my community,” Lee told CBS. “It is sad. I’m raising money for Trooper Dermyer’s family.”
Virginia State Police Trooper Chad Dermyer was shot multiple times on March 31, by a man during a training exercise at a Greyhound bus station in Richmond. He left behind a wife and two young children.
Lee said he used to run for the shiny trophies but now he hopes to help the police officer’s family.
“He was really upset by it and wanted to do something,” said Braxton’s mother, Maryanne Lee.
Lee decided to run nine five-kilometre races, which is the equivalent of more than a marathon. He’s already started and is dedicating each race to the slain officer, whose family lives in the same community.
“He is just such a kind little boy very kindhearted and always has been,” said Braxton’s father, Jarret Lee.
The avid runner, with his tiny sneakers and determination, said he doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon.
“I am beyond proud let me tell you,” said mother Maryanne. “He is an amazing little boy and I am definitely proud to be his mother.”
