Canadian chanteuse Avril Lavigne may not be in a relationship with her one-time husband Chad Kroeger (at least, that’s the last we heard), but she certainly comes to his defense when he’s under attack.

His band, Nickelback, which is often the subject of much derision, was featured in a recent poll about Donald Trump’s popularity. It seems the GOP presidential candidate is “more popular” than the band, which is a roundabout way of saying the group is viewed very unfavourably by the public.
Lavigne lashed out on Twitter Thursday about the poll and the publications covering its results.
Lavigne is at least partially right: Nickelback has a legion of fans, and loyal ones at that. The Alberta band’s Facebook page has almost 19 million likes, and Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.

The band also ranks as the eleventh best-selling music act, and second-best-selling foreign act in the United States of the ’00s, behind only The Beatles.
Kroeger and Lavigne separated in September of 2015, but the couple walked the red carpet together at the Junos in April.
