EDMONTON – Police are investigating after a man on a motorcycle suffered serious injuries after colliding with an SUV in north Edmonton late Thursday night.
According to police, officers were called to the crash at 97 Street and Yellowhead Trail at around 9:30 p.m.
Police said they believe a man in his late twenties was on a motorcycle travelling southbound on 97 Street when he tried to make a lefthand turn while approaching the Yellowhead. At that point, police said they believe an SUV being driven by a 19-year-old man, tried to make a left turn – despite there being a “no left turn” sign – onto the Yellowhead, at which point the motorcycle struck the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital where he is now recovering in serious but stable condition. The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
No charges have been laid and police said speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
Police continue to investigate what caused the crash.
