CALGARY – The Syrian Refugee Support Group Calgary are saying goodbye to their home base Sunday by throwing a closing party.
For four and a half months, a group of community volunteers have been operating a warehouse, located on 27 Avenue and 15 Street northeast, full of donations to resettle hundreds of Syrian refugees that arrived to Calgary.

Now, the donor for the space needs it back.
The party runs from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon and the group is inviting Calgarians to come meet the Syrian families and the hundreds of donors and volunteers who’ve helped them resettle.
Guests are encouraged to bring food, like halal hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, sides and any desserts or prepare entertainment kids might enjoy – like face painting or games.
The volunteers said the space was where they met their new ‘family members’ and started a life-long relationship with newcomers. It’s also where recruiters came to hire refugees and donors and volunteers and visitors came together.
The group who operate the warehouse also opened its doors to low-income Calgarians.
