A man in his early 20s is dead after a vehicle slammed into a hydro pole in Markham.

York Regional Police say the collision occurred around 6 a.m. Saturday on Reesor Road near Major Mackenzie Drive.

Collision: Reesor Rd., Markham is closed between Major Mackenzie Drive and Elgin Mills Road for a serious motor vehicle collision.

The crash sent live hydro wires down across the road.

The man’s name has not been released.

The area around the crash site was closed as the major collisions unit investigated.
