EDMONTON – A 69-year-old man died from the injuries he sustained when he was hit crossing a street in Mill Woods last week.
At around 9:20 a.m. Thursday, the man was in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Mill Woods Road and 48 Street when he was struck by a cargo van, police said.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died Sunday.
Officers said a middle-aged man behind the wheel of a GMC 3500 van turned left onto 48 Street when he allegedly hit the pedestrian.
The driver, 60-year-old Robert Eugene Labonte, was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failing to obey a stop sign before entering an intersection.
EPS said this is Edmonton’s 10th traffic fatality of the year.
