Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive tackle Bryant Turner has landed on his feet with the B.C. Lions.
The Leos announced on Wednesday they’ve signed the two-time division all-star to a one-year contract.
Turner, 28, played five seasons with the Bombers but was released by the club in March. The Bombers signed defensive linemen Euclid Cummings and Keith Shologan through free agency, making Turner expendable.

“Bryant is a veteran defensive tackle who brings a lot of skill, speed and experience to the line,” GM and head coach Wally Buono said through a media release.
“He’s been an East Division and CFL All-Star in the past and he can play multiple positions, so he’ll bring both competition and depth to our defence for training camp.”
Turner played his first five seasons in the CFL with the Bombers and in 71 games made 26 sacks with five forced fumbles.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Lions,” said Turner through a media release from his home in Alabama.
“The coaching staff is what really impressed me and I have a ton of respect for guys like Solomon Elimimian and Adam Bighill. It will be great to play with those guys and do my part to help bring the defence up another notch and make a difference.”
He was both an East Division All-Star and CFL All-Star in 2012. Turner was also chosen as a Division All-Star in 2013.
