WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Tuesday they’ve released veterans Clarence Denmark and Bryant Turner.

Denmark, 30, played five seasons in the blue and gold. The slotback topped the thousand yard receiving mark once in 2014 and was named a CFL All-Star. Denmark only missed three games during his time with the Bombers. He leaves after making 306 catches for 4165 yards with 16 touchdowns in 87 games.

Turner, 28, was also cut loose after playing five years for the Bombers. He had 26 sacks and five forced fumbles in 53 games at defensive tackle. Turner was both an East Division All-Star and CFL All-Star in 2012. He was also chosen as a Division All-Star in 2013.

It was suspected the Bombers would have to make some moves to cut down on salary after spending freely on free agency. They had already released defensive lineman Zach Anderson.

These are the types of difficult decisions that must be made throughout the off-season,” General Manager Kyle Walters said through a media release.

“Both Bryant and Clarence have done great things for this organization both on and off the field for a long time now. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers sincerely thank both men for the dedication, hard work, and effort they put forth. We wish them the very best moving forward.”

The Bombers currently have 77 players listed on the roster with their three mini-camp scheduled to begin on April 25.
