SASKATOON – Police have issued a fraud advisory after two Saskatoon seniors were approached by a man posing as a bank official. Police believe the same man was involved in both cases.

In the first instance, a 91-year-old woman was contacted over the phone by a man claiming to be a bank security officer. She said he asked her to help catch criminals by withdrawing money from her account and then meeting him at an undisclosed location.

He assured her the withdrawal would be covered by insurance.

In the second case, a 90-year-old woman was contacted by a man claiming to be a bank representative. He claimed there was an issue with her savings account and that she owed money.

She was told to withdraw that amount and then meet with him.

The man is described as Caucasian, in his 60s, approximately six-foot with a slim build.

Both cases remain under investigation by the economic crime unit.
