TORONTO — Police have arrested a New York City man accused of dousing a Scarborough house with gasoline and setting it on fire.
Emergency crews responded to a fire in the Warden Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East area around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Toronto police said a man had broken into the home, poured gasoline inside and set fire to it before escaping the area.
The home was completely destroyed in the fire and police said Ali Moshir, 43, of Queens, New York City, was sought as a suspect and considered “violent and dangerous.”
Moshir was also sought by police on previous charges of criminal harassment, break-and-enter and unlawfully entering a dwelling earlier this year.
