Truck driver dies in south Edmonton crash

EDMONTON – One person was killed Sunday morning when the truck he was driving crashed on Parsons Road near South Edmonton Common.

Police believe the driver was heading south on Parsons Road at around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control and was thrown from the truck.

Officers found the truck in the ditch.

The driver – a man believed to be 36 years old – was treated on scene and taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Investigators are now looking for witnesses.

Police said speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

This is Edmonton’s ninth traffic fatality of 2016.
