WINNIPEG — A cool spring day didn’t stop Winnipeggers from taking to the streets on Good Friday for the annual Way of the Cross march.
More than 1,000 Roman Catholics helped carry a large wooden cross from St. Peter’s Church, to take part in the symbolic march.

The walk started at the church on Keewatin Street and covered a 1.5 km route through the neighbourhood.
There were numerous stops on the way for readings and prayers, which was led by Archbishop Reverend Richard Gagnon.
“One of the underlying themes here, besides the actual stations of the cross, is to recall some of the issues that face humanity, in terms of social justice,” said Gagnon.
