Organizers confirm that the increasingly popular “Chase the Ace” game will resume in Sydney, N.S., on Saturday, March 26.

The estimated jackpot sits at $1.3 million and there are only nine cards remaining in the game. Last week, the game took a break after two identical tickets were sold during the March 12 draw.

“At the end of the day, two Cape Bretoners walked away almost $230,000 richer, and as a result we have been able to identify new safeguards and procedures that could very likely end up being adopted by other lotteries across the province,” said Stephen Tobin, business development officer for Horizon Achievement Centre.

Horizon is one of the charities presenting the Chase the Ace Sydney event.

“We have been working very closely with the province’s gaming commission and we have worked incredibly hard over the last week to take all necessary steps that have allowed us to move forward in a manner that will protect our respective charities, the ticket purchasers and the integrity of this important community fundraiser,” he said in a news release.

This week, the game will see an increase in both sales locations and increased security and policing at all venues.

Horizon says to minimize the risk of duplication for future draws, they will be retaining the services of a new custom ticket supplier and retaining the services of a national accounting firm. The firm will work with the new supplier to ensure that duplicate tickets are not supplied.

The game will also see new internal security measures that will help prevent fraudulent activity.
